The 2023 Annual Report systematically summarizes and analyzes the latest results of F&M Global Barometers’ twin projects, the Global Barometer of Gay Rights (GBGR) ® and the Global Barometer of Transgender Rights™ (GBTR). Covering 204 countries between 2011-2020, the report charts the progress and regression of LGBT human rights and analyzes the impact of economic growth, democracy and globalization. On the whole, although there has been notable progress on LGBT rights in some countries and regions over the past 10 years, that progress has been uneven at best. The United States, for one, scores a C-Intolerant (74%) on the GBGR and an F-Persecuting (59%) on the GBTR as of 2020. These figures indicate that work remains to be done, both globally and at home.
